Converter Smart A1 Connect
The smart wireless solution for industrial and commercial energy metering
The A1 Connect reads measurement data via the AMR interface and wirelessly transmits it via LoRaWAN or NB-IoT to a cloud platform or energy management system. This provides grid operators, energy suppliers, and energy professionals with real-time insights into energy consumption and electrical infrastructure quality.
Data Integration via MQTT
The Smart A1 Connect supports standard MQTT, a lightweight and efficient protocol ideal for communication with cloud applications, IoT platforms, and energy management systems. This enables seamless integration of energy data into professional software solutions for energy monitoring and reporting. You can also link the dongle to an external MQTT broker via the web interface. Xemex also offers integration with the ENNY platform, hosted in Europe, with secure MQTT communication and optional cloud analytics.
Hardware/software interface – no hosting required
The dongle combines hardware and embedded software to act as a reliable translator — not a server or host. It does not run services like a broker itself but provides clean, secure access to your meter data.
Difference with Smart P1 Connect
While the Smart P1 Connect is designed for households and small business applications with a standard P1 interface, the Smart A1 Connect targets large-scale installations with an AMR interface. The A1 offers greater flexibility, reliability, and scalability for environments where energy is a critical business factor.
- Consumption Monitoring
Companies, government bodies, and industrial sites often have multiple metering points spread across various locations. With the Smart A1 Connect, these meters can be centrally read via the AMR interface without relying on local networks. Consumption data is automatically forwarded to a platform or EMS. This real-time insight enables targeted measures for energy savings, cost reduction, and sustainability reporting. - Load Management in Industrial Installations
In industrial environments, managing power consumption is critical. The A1 Connect provides frequent measurement data that companies can use to align consumption with grid capacity and internal processes. This helps prevent exceeding contracted power, contributing to grid stability and cost efficiency. - Energy Monitoring in Multi-Tenant Buildings
In buildings with multiple tenants (e.g., business parks or retail centers), it is important to have clear consumption insights per tenant or zone. With AMR meters on different connections, the A1 Connect can easily monitor each part of the building separately. Data is wirelessly sent to a platform where managers and tenants can view their own consumption. - Integration with Solar Installations and EMS
Many companies combine their infrastructure with solar panels, battery storage, or heat pumps. The Smart A1 Connect allows mapping and integration of these energy flows into an energy management system. By combining production and consumption data, a complete energy profile emerges, essential for optimization and sustainability.
- Charging station manufacturers and installers
The Smart Connect enables direct connection to an EV charger (peer-to-peer), allowing current smart meter data to be used for dynamic load balancing and grid stability. This makes it easy for installers to integrate charging stations more intelligently and securely, without complex network configurations. - Energy companies and grid operators
Because the dongle continuously unlocks real-time consumption data via Modbus TCP and MQTT, energy companies and grid operators can use this information for monitoring, reporting and supporting flexible energy services. The splitter function also makes it possible to share the same data stream with multiple systems. - PV installers and battery systems
For solar energy and home batteries, the Smart Connect provides current consumption and feed-in data that enables batteries and micro-inverters to be controlled intelligently. This optimises own consumption and allows for more efficient storage or feed-in, ideal for installers with a larger installed base. - EMS and smart home providers
With support for Modbus TCP and MQTT, the dongle can be easily integrated into energy management systems and home automation. The forwarding and splitter functions allow multiple applications to use the same P1 data simultaneously, offering EMS providers flexibility and scalability. - Commercial property and SMEs
Companies with multiple installations or charging points can use Smart Connect to gain insight into their energy consumption and connect multiple devices (e.g. chargers, EMS, dashboards) to a single smart meter. This makes it a scalable solution for energy monitoring and efficient consumption in business environments.
