Why solar panel owners should consider a dynamic energy contract after the abolition of the balancing scheme
The abolition of the net-metering scheme in early 2027 represents a big change for households with solar panels. It will make it less financially attractive to feed your solar energy back to the grid. You already get a low feed-in compensation, currently €0.182 to €0.020 per kWh, but if you subtract the feed-in costs from that, it is no longer profitable at all and may even cost you money. This means it is much more advantageous to use your generated electricity immediately yourself instead of feeding it back.

Those prices are determined on the EPEX spot market and can fluctuate a lot based on supply and demand. On sunny afternoons, they are often low or even negative. In the evening, they sometimes actually peak.
The fact that more and more solar panel owners are looking into this is also shown by research conducted by Panel Inzicht on behalf of Energie VanOns: half of the solar panel owners are considering a dynamic energy contract as soon as net-metering stops(bron).
